who we are

WE ARE A PLACE OF HOPE

WHO WE

ARE

At Rose of Sharon, you will find a community of people from different backgrounds and life experiences worshipping God. We hope that everyone encounters the power of God’s presence and to interact with an inspired, relevant, and exciting message about Jesus to support, strengthen, and pray for each other as we follow Jesus Christ every day and to share the gospel message.

our story

Our story begins in southwest Tipton County during the fires of a revival in the late 60’s and early 70’s. During the summer of God-inspired camp meeting services in 1971 at Rose of Sharon Campground people from the region came together to experience a powerful God moving powerfully.

Carlton Rose, our founding Pastor, knew the seeds of a church were planted and in August of 1972, he moved the old Dalton-McMillan Store to what is now 3065 Candy Lane. This building, after remodeling, would become the meeting place for this exciting new church. In November of 1972 Rose of Sharon Campground Church was dedicated to God and opened its doors for the first time.

Years have passed since, but those same fires of revival still burn and the power of God is revealed during each service as the life-changing message of Jesus Christ is presented. Through the years, many lives have been changed at RoS and this still reigns true as we train disciples of Christ in Spirit and truth.

Our story is still being written, and we hope you and your family will find yourself a part of the next chapter. Welcome home!

Tim Rose

Lead Pastor

Pastor Tim was born and raised in Tipton County, and he has a passion for people. His biggest blessing is to see them encounter the life-changing message of Jesus Christ, experience the power of the Holy Spirit working daily in their lives, and to participate in our worship services!

Pastor Tim is a firm believer in the simplistic life-changing Message of Jesus’ call of "follow me, and I will make you fishers of men" (Matt. 4:19). He believes a change occurs in your life, outlook, attitude, personal situation, and your future when you leave all and follow Christ. Pastor desires that all would consider Rose of Sharon Church a place where they are blessed and are, in turn, blessing others by what God is doing in them.

Tim is the husband of his beautiful wife, Lisa, and together they have two beautifully unique and talented daughters, MaKayla and McKenna. Pastor Tim is a graduate of Munford High School, an alumnus of the University of Memphis, and a graduate of Central Bible College. He is the Camp Coordinator for Rose of Sharon Summer Camps and a lover of all things sports related.

Jason Whitt

Music Pastor

Jason felt God called into ministry at an early age, but didn’t begin serving in a church until 1994 when he became Children’s Pastor at Arlington Assembly of God. Over the course of time, Jason has also served various churches as a youth pastor and worship pastor. In 2012, after helping with music at Rose of Sharon Youth Camps Jason took a leap of faith and joined the team at Rose of Sharon as a worship pastor.

Jason and his wife Lori have three children, Colton, Jonathan, and Ashley. Jason’s son Colton and his wife, Taylor, have given Jason and Lori their first grandchild, Eleanor, and are about to make them grandparents once more. Jason has a love for his family, coffee, teaching music, and rock anthems.

Joy Wright

Kids Church Director

Joy has a heart for children, and it shows, not only within the four walls of the church, but in her choice of profession, an early childhood educator. For sixteen years, children across Tipton county have benefited from her desire to develop a strong sense of self worth, a great work ethic, a reliable moral compass, all the while learning the building blocks that set the foundation for the rest of their educational journey. She brings her background as a teacher into our children's ministry at Rose of Sharon, continuing to pour into our kids and developing within them a heart for Jesus and others.

Joy and her husband Dan of seventeen years have two children Anna Rose and Nolan. With her infectious personality, Joy brings a smile and a laugh to every person she encounters. She is an avid concert-goer, lover of all things Memphis, can sing car karaoke with the best of them, and is a lover of all things sweet.

Rose of Sharon Youth is a community of leaders building and leading leaders. We desire to cultivate a culture of worship and devotion to God in the teaching, reading and living out the principles set before us in the Word of God. We believe that commitment to God encompasses our entire life and who we are, not just the facade worn within the four walls of the church. Our goal is to reach those around us in sharing with them the life-saving message of the always relevant and always present Jesus.

Rose of Sharon Kids is dedicated to seeing the next generation encounter Jesus in a real way. The church must equip our children and help them grow in God. Our ultimate example is before us in Luke 2: 25 when the writer speaks of a young Jesus as he "grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man."

In each service, our nursery and our children's church services are designed to give your young students an opportunity to encounter Jesus in a fun and engaging way.
